Ice Hockey NSW is a prominent sports club in Sydney, Australia, dedicated to the growth and development of ice hockey in the state of New South Wales. The club provides opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels to participate in ice hockey, fostering a sense of community and promoting the sport's values.
Although Ice Hockey NSW regrets being unable to send a team to compete in the International Quebec Peewee Tournament in February 2024, the decision was made after a thorough assessment of the circumstances. Despite efforts to gather interest from eligible players, there were limited expressions of interest, making it unviable to send an Ice Crocs team to the tournament.
Various objective considerations influenced this decision. Firstly, the low number of players and families expressing interest hindered the club's ability to form a competitive team. Adequate resources, including support and infrastructure, are essential for a meaningful participation, but the current level of interest did not meet the requirements.
Additionally, the financial implications of participating in the tournament posed a challenge. The expenses related to travel, accommodation, and other associated costs would have placed a burden on the players' families. Considering these factors, Ice Hockey NSW concludes that it is not in the best interest of the organisation or the participating players to proceed with a team that lacks the necessary player numbers and resources for this tournament.
Nonetheless, Ice Hockey NSW remains dedicated to fostering the growth and development of ice hockey in the state. The club understands the significance of the Quebec Tournament in the development of young ice hockey players, and they value its importance. It is their hope to revisit the possibility of participating in the tournament in the future and providing a meaningful experience for their athletes.

Ice Hockey NSW has also submitted an application for the Ice Crocs to participate in the Quebec International Peewee Tournament in 2024. The confirmation of their acceptance will be known around October 20th, 2023. If accepted, all players will be billeted with local volunteer families during the tournament.
