Huon Archers is a sports club located in the Huon Valley Council, associated with Archery Australia, Archery Alliance, and World Archery. With a small but diverse membership, the club caters to archers of all ages, ranging from 12 to 68 years old, and disciplines that include longbow and compound.
The club conducts beginner’s sessions called OzBow on the first two Saturday mornings of each month, providing an opportunity for individuals to try archery. These sessions run from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm and cost $75 for 5 sessions. All necessary equipment is provided, and participants receive 2 hours of coaching per session. Families of 2 or more people receive a 10% discount on the session fee.
The minimum age requirement for OzBow is 10 years old. There is no need to book in advance, however, newcomers are encouraged to arrive about half an hour early (10:00 am) to complete necessary paperwork, receive equipment, and receive initial instruction.
In addition to the OzBow sessions, Huon Archers also offer scheduled club shoots every Saturday. During summer, shoots start at 1:30 pm, and during winter, the start time is 11:30 am (non-OzBow weekends). Club members have the flexibility to shoot any day of the week. More information about the OzBow sessions and club shooting times can be found on the club's Facebook page.
Membership to Huon Archers is managed through the Archery Australia website, where new members can join, and existing members can renew their membership. By joining the club, members agree to abide by the club's Constitution and Club Access and Safety Policy.
The club keeps a club calendar that shows the weekly shoots and OzBow roster. Weekly club shoots are scored online using iScored, and participants must register using Archer's Diary, selecting Archery Tasmania and Huon Archers, in order to utilise this feature.
Huon Archers is proud to be supported by the local community and is located at Skinners Drive, Huonville TAS 7109.
