Hunter Valley Equestrian Centre

The Hunter Valley Equestrian Centre is a sports club located in Black Hill, at the end of the M1 motorway near Newcastle in the Hunter Valley, within the Newcastle City Council. Situated on 100 acres of picturesque tree-studded rolling paddocks, the centre offers a range of services including dressage training, riding lessons, agistment, coach training, and accommodation.

Owned and managed by Shaun France, the centre is a family-oriented establishment. Shaun, who has raised her two sons and now enjoys time with her grandchildren on the property, is always available on-site. You can often find her in the saddle, providing coaching or simply enjoying feed up time. Her two beautiful Irish Setter companions, Rosie and Rosheen, are typically seen accompanying her.

The centre boasts professional training facilities for both enthusiastic and dedicated riders. The main attraction is the 60 × 20m indoor floodlit dressage arena, equipped with mirrors. This arena provides excellent lighting conditions for practise. Additionally, the centre features a breezeway with a full bathroom and a locked tack room, ensuring the safety and convenience of riders.

A wash bay and rider retreat accommodation are also available.

For outdoor training, the centre offers an outdoor dressage arena as well as a grass jumping area equipped with poles and cavalettis. These facilities are ideal for riders looking to improve their skills in a natural setting. A covered round yard and 25 acres of on-property trails further enhance the training options available.

When it comes to accommodating horses, the Hunter Valley Equestrian Centre excels. With a large stable block, four holding yards, and 21 paddocks ranging in size from 1 to 5 acres, the centre ensures that every horse is well-catered for. The variety in paddock sizes allows for individualised care and freedom of movement for the horses.
