One of the main goals of the Hervey Bay Basketball Association is to establish a dedicated basketball facility for the community. The association's members eagerly anticipate the approval of the proposed Hervey Bay Multipurpose Facility by the Fraser Coast Regional Council. This new facility will provide a permanent home for the club and enhance the basketball experience for all players and spectators.
To participate in the various competitions and basketball activities organised by Hervey Bay Basketball, individuals must register and pay online. Registration not only allows players, coaches, and volunteers to be a part of the club, but it also provides insurance coverage under Basketball Queensland's umbrella policy.
The club prides itself on being run entirely by volunteers who are passionate about the game of basketball. They encourage everyone to get involved, regardless of their level of experience. Many members initially knew nothing about basketball when their children started playing. By volunteering and helping out in various capacities, such as score bench, washing jerseys, or assisting experienced coaches, they were able to learn and contribute to the development of the sport.
The support and involvement of the community are crucial in sustaining the club's junior and senior basketball programmes.
Hervey Bay Basketball offers junior programmes for children aged 8 to 18 years. There are different age groups, and the registration fee is $35. 50, which covers Basketball Queensland registration, $99. 50 for Association Membership, and a $15.
00 club contribution. Game fees for juniors are $150 per season, with the option of paying $75 if they wish to play up in the senior divisions. Junior games take place on various weekdays, depending on the age group, at the PCYC, Hervey Bay High School, and other local venues.
The club also offers senior programmes for men and women, with the registration fee being $36. 42 for Basketball Queensland registration and $63. 58 for Hervey Bay Basketball Association registration. The game fees for seniors are the same as for juniors, at $150 per season.
Senior games take place on Thursdays and are held at the PCYC and Hervey Bay High School.
Members of Hervey Bay Basketball Association benefit from insurance coverage, which includes public liability and personal injury insurance provided by Basketball Queensland through V-Insurance. This coverage applies to sanctioned activities such as competitions, training sessions, social functions, committee meetings, fundraising activities, and travel related to these activities.
