The Heirisson Island Tournament Water Ski Club, also known as HIT, is a sports club located on the Swan River in the heart of Perth, Australia. Situated opposite the Burswood Casino, the club is affiliated with the Australian Waterski and Wakeboard Federation (AWWF) and focuses on promoting Tournament water-skiing in Western Australia.
The club welcomes individuals of all skill levels and abilities who want to improve their skiing skills or learn the sport. No previous experience is necessary. As a club, they ski on most Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday mornings throughout Summer. However, members have access to the excellent facilities at the Burswood site year-round.
Participation in the club's regular tournaments is encouraged, with members able to compete in various disciplines such as slalom, trick, or jump skiing. The club offers several benefits to new members, including advanced coaching, top-notch facilities, holiday ski schools, and one of the best water ski locations in Australia. They cater to beginners who are looking to enhance their skills, as well as State, Australian, and World Champions.
HIT prides itself on being a social and active club that continues to thrive and achieve numerous successes. For those interested in becoming members, they can contact Dawson Miller, the Club President, for further information regarding membership.
The club's boat, a new Malibu TXi, was used in the 2023 Nationals held at Bonney's Waterpark in Western Australia. It is available on set days and times, weather permitting, and additional times can be organised by the designated skippers. The club utilises an online and mobile app system called Spond to manage boat scheduling, and members can view boat usage through this system. For more information on boat usage, individuals can contact the Club Secretary.
Launching, retrieving, and driving the club boat follow a system of “Skipper” and “Driver. ” Skippers, after receiving training from Alan Dagg on the key steps, systems, and processes, are authorised to launch, retrieve, and drive the boat. Drivers, on the other hand, need a WA boat licence (WA Skipper's Ticket) and must have completed the level 1 driver course provided by WAWA, which includes a practical assessment.
To get on the water behind the club boat, members are required to submit a ski ticket. Information on how to obtain ski tickets can be obtained from the club.
