Classical Ballet is a core focus of Halloran Dance School, utilising the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus. The graded system ensures that young dancers progress gradually with age-appropriate exercises. Students can choose to participate in optional examinations, with a high success rate and a boost in confidence at each level achieved. For those who can only attend one class or dance ballet for fun, the RAD also offers assessment exams.
Additionally, the school offers ballet classes for tiny tots on Saturday mornings, where young students can learn the basics of ballet in a fun and friendly environment.
Halloran Dance School is renowned for its excellence in Irish National Dancing. Students are captivated by the music and exhilaration of this competitive dance form. The school has produced numerous National Champions, World qualifiers, and World medal winners over its 46 years of teaching Irish Dancing in Sydney. Students have the opportunity to compete in national competitions across Australia and even internationally.
Irish Dancing classes are also available for those who wish to dance for fun or participate in beginner's competitions. Notably, the school has had professional dancers, including five currently on tour with Riverdance, and celebrated its first world globe winner, Morgan Crammond, who placed 2nd in the World Championships in 2019.
Jazz classes offered at Halloran Dance School are fun and provide a great opportunity for exercise. Students learn different styles of Jazz, ranging from Broadway to Contemporary to Funk, all choreographed to be age-appropriate. The school also offers high-calibre tuition in Tap dancing, with classes available for preschool-aged children to open age. Students gain experience in various variations of tap dancing, including rhythm tap for musicality and Broadway tap for dance.
For toddlers aged 2 and a half to 5 years, Halloran Dance School offers a specialised Tiny Tots class that combines Jazz and Tap. This class provides a taste of both genres, followed by a fun start to ballet. The duration of the class is adjusted to accommodate the limited attention span of young children.
In addition to the core dance styles, Halloran Dance School also offers Contemporary and Lyrical classes. Many junior ballet students choose to participate in the Contemporary/Lyrical class, while major students have Contemporary included in their full Ballet course.
