Gungahlin Badminton Club

The Gungahlin Badminton Club (GBC) is a popular sports club situated in Canberra, Australia. The club caters to a diverse range of players, from beginners to more advanced individuals, and welcomes players of all ages, including students, adults, and seniors.

The club offers regular sessions at various locations throughout the week. On Mondays, members can participate in sessions from 8:00 to 10:00 pm at Amaroo High School. Thursdays are reserved for members only, with intermediate and advanced players taking part in sessions at Gungahlin College from 7:30 pm onwards.

To join the GBC, interested individuals need to pay a session fee, which is $8 for members and $15 for visitors. Additionally, there is an annual membership fee to be paid via PayID, with men being charged $50 and women and students being charged $30.

The club encourages players to participate in tournaments, such as the ACT Open, which features events in different grades and is scheduled for November 18-19, 2023. The GBC also hosts the Phoenix Graded Junior Tournament, open to ACT juniors under the age of 18, with events including singles and doubles matches in different grades.

For those interested in becoming badminton umpires, the GBC offers a National Accredited Umpiring Course, presented by Sheehan Lim. The club also provides information about coaching opportunities, including the Badminton Coaching Foundation Course, which is a prerequisite for coaching at Australian national events.
