In fact, it has hosted prestigious events such as the Cycling NSW Masters Road Race Championships in 2014 and 2015, as well as Cycling Australia's National Masters Road Race Championships. In addition to organised club rides, Griffith also offers several social and training rides throughout the week. Although these rides are not officially organised by the Griffith Cycle Club, many club members participate in them. The social weekly rides occur on Wednesday and Friday mornings, departing at 6:00 am from the corner of Wyangan Ave & Kooba St (heading out Wyangan Ave). These rides typically last 1 to 1 1/4 hours and maintain an average speed of 28-30 km/h, covering a distance of 25-30 km. Additionally, there are rides on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, leaving from the Plane on the Pole (Griffith Information Centre) on Banna Ave at 6:00am. These rides are also approximately 1 1/4 hours in duration and provide an opportunity to further explore the region on two wheels.
