The Grampians Bushwalking Club, located in the Northern Grampians Shire, is dedicated to promoting safe and environmentally responsible recreational bushwalking. Established in 1994, the club offers opportunities for members to enjoy the great outdoors through a variety of activities.
The club organises walks on a fortnightly basis, usually taking place on weekends and alternating between Saturdays and Sundays. These walks provide members with the chance to explore different areas and landscapes, both within the Grampians region and throughout Victoria. The club has ventured to destinations such as Mt Gambier, Mt Buffalo, Mt Kosciusko, the Otways, St Arnaud, Werribee Gorge, and many more.
In addition to their own walks, the Grampians Bushwalking Club also collaborates with other clubs, allowing members to experience different walking adventures and meet fellow outdoor enthusiasts. The club's Annual Meeting is held in July, while General Meetings take place on the last Tuesday of each month.
As an incorporated club, the Grampians Bushwalking Club has affiliations with the Bushwalking Victoria Walking Clubs Inc. (BWV). This association ensures that all club members are covered by Public Liability and Personal Accident Insurance, as well as Association Liability Insurance.
The club's Statement of Purpose outlines their commitment to promoting outdoor enjoyment and fostering allied outdoor activities. They strive to prioritise safety and environmental responsibility, while also working alongside other organisations to develop, maintain, and protect walking tracks for the benefit of all. The Grampians Bushwalking Club also offers opportunities for skill development, including bush navigation and leadership.
The club's activities include various types of walks, such as day walks within the Grampians and Victoria, base camps involving day walks from a fixed campsite, and overnight hikes where participants carry backpacks and stay out in the wilderness overnight. All activities are graded according to difficulty, ensuring that there are options suitable for individuals of different fitness levels and experience.
The Grampians Bushwalking Club warmly welcomes visitors to join their walks and activities. While walks are free for club members, visitors are encouraged to join the club if they plan to participate in activities more than three times per year. To ensure accurate and up-to-date information, interested individuals are advised to contact the leader of the activity prior to participation.
Please note that official club activities require a minimum of four members to proceed. In the event of a total fire ban day, the activity will be cancelled. The club's leader will make a cancellation decision on the morning of the walk and will inform members and visitors accordingly.
