Golf North Queensland Inc. is a sports club located in Mackay, Australia. Established in 2011, it was formed through the amalgamation of the North Queensland Men's Golf Association, North West Queensland Men's District Association, and Women's Golf North Queensland. It is the second district in Queensland to undergo this amalgamation process.
The club's Management Committee comprises a President, two Vice Presidents (one male and one female), a Treasurer, Secretary, and three committee members representing the North, South, and West regions. The committee members alternate as chairs of the “One Match” committee.
Golf North Queensland has a total of 22 member clubs, with a collective membership of 4,023 golfers. The district extends over a vast geographical area, ranging from Sarina in the south to Boulia and Mount Isa in the west, and Ingham in the north. Some member clubs include Ayr Golf Club, Boulia Golf Club, Bowen Golf Club, Charters Towers Golf Club, and Mackay Golf Club.
The club aims to promote and grow the participation of girls in golf and hosts a MyGolf Girls Camp in December. This two-day camp is designed for beginners to nine-hole players between the ages of 5 and 12. It aims to attract and engage new and existing female participants in the game.
Golf North Queensland also encourages participation in their MyGolf Sporting Schools programme, which provides opportunities for schools to incorporate golf into their educational curriculum. They have a dedicated guide that provides all the necessary information for schools interested in participating in the Sporting Schools programme.
The club maintains a strong focus on child safety and adheres to the changes made to the blue card system following the Royal Commission into Child Abuse. A No Card, No Start Law applies, ensuring that all individuals involved in regulated activities have the necessary blue card.
To keep members updated on events and club openings, Golf North Queensland has developed the GNQ Player APP for both Apple and Android devices. This app provides information on club activities and events happening in the GNQ District.
Golf North Queensland has a zero-tolerance policy towards poor personal behaviour and upholds a Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct can be found in the club's resources section.
The club also offers sponsorship opportunities and encourages support for its valued sponsors. For sponsorship inquiries, interested parties can contact the club secretary via email.
With its rich history and dedication to the sport of golf, Golf North Queensland strives to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for golfers of all ages and skill levels.
