Gold Coast Masters Cycling Club is a well-established sports club in Gold Coast, Queensland, catering to mature age cyclists aged 30 and above. The club's main objective is to provide a platform for cyclists to engage in the sport of cycling and compete against individuals of similar fitness levels, strength, and ability. With over 200 members, the Gold Coast Masters Cycling Club continues to see steady growth in its membership every year.
To be eligible for racing in the Masters category, individuals must be a minimum of 30 years of age or turn 30 within the year of becoming a member. The club prides itself on its friendly and welcoming atmosphere, actively encouraging the participation of new members. The annual membership fee for 2023 is set at an affordable $140, granting members a full racing licence that spans from January 1st to December 31st.
As the largest Masters club in Queensland and one of the largest in Australia, the Gold Coast Masters Cycling Club offers a comprehensive racing calendar. Sunday races are scheduled throughout the year, except for a few weeks in January. Thanks to the favourable weather conditions in Gold Coast, racing opportunities are available for most weekends.
The club's events primarily take place on three closed circuits, including the Norwell Motorplex, the Luke Harrop Memorial Cycling circuit, and the Nerang criterium and velodrome. Due to the population increase in the region, road circuits have become more challenging to organise. Therefore, the closed circuits provide a safe and suitable environment for hosting races. The Norwell circuit, in particular, will be utilised for approximately 12 events, some of which will form a series.
Points will be allocated to determine winners across various grades, while each event remains standalone.
The Gold Coast Masters Cycling Club actively engages its members through its website and social media channels. The club's website features a comprehensive racing calendar, results, and points, ensuring that members are up-to-date with the latest information on upcoming events. The club also highlights the importance of insurance and provides relevant information through A J Gallagher.
For all mature aged cyclists in Gold Coast looking to connect with like-minded individuals, the Gold Coast Masters Cycling Club offers a vibrant and supportive community. With its regular schedule of races and a focus on fostering a friendly atmosphere, the club provides an excellent opportunity to enjoy the sport of cycling and compete among peers of similar age and abilities.
