Additionally, it is important to bring rewards for your dog, such as food or toys, as these will be used to motivate and reward your dog during training sessions. Verbal praise is also encouraged as a form of reward.
Training sessions cover a range of skills and behaviours that are significant for a well-behaved dog. This includes socialising with other dogs, focus and attention training, commands such as sit, drop, and stand, recall (coming back when called), walking calmly and heeling, praise and play, and problem-solving. These skills will not only help you have a better relationship with your dog but will also make your dog a more enjoyable companion in social situations.
The Wodonga Branch of the German Shepherd Dog Club of Victoria Inc. aims to provide positive and reward-based training that is both effective and enjoyable for both dogs and their owners. Training sessions are held at Wodonga TAFE Cricket Grounds, with entry from Universal Drive. Classes take place on Sunday mornings from 10. 00 am. Puppies as young as 8 weeks old, with proof of vaccination, are welcome to attend.
