About
Geelong Amateur Volleyball Association (GAVA) is a sports club located in Geelong, Australia. The club offers a range of volleyball programmes and competitions for players of all ages and skill levels.
For those interested in joining the volleyball competition, GAVA operates a school term-based league. Teams can register prior to the start of each term, and team fees are required to be paid upfront. The competition is open to both men and women.
GAVA also provides entry-level volleyball lessons for individuals who are new to the sport. These lessons are held on Saturday mornings and follow a term-based format. It's a great opportunity for beginners to learn the fundamentals of volleyball in a supportive and friendly environment.
For children aged between 8 and 12, GAVA offers the Spikezone programme. Spikezone is Volleyball Australia’s entry-level volleyball programme, designed to introduce kids to the sport in a fun and engaging way.
In addition to these programmes, GAVA also organises a junior competition for school age children. This competition provides young players with the opportunity to further develop their skills and compete against their peers.
For senior and experienced players, GAVA offers an open competition. This competition is designed for those who have a good understanding of the game and are looking for a more challenging level of play.
GAVA is proud to have a dedicated committee, composed of President Robert Straube, Secretary Robert Straube, Treasurer Dave McMaster, Ray Nikolic, Charlie Warmisham-Hall, and Greg Miltenoff.
The club is based at the Leisuretime Sports Precinct, located at 262-282 Anakie Rd, Norlane VIC 3214. GAVA's competitions typically take place on Thursdays during all school terms, starting at 6pm.
