The Geelong Off Road Buggy Association (GORBA) is a not-for-profit off-road racing club based in Geelong, Australia. The club prides itself on promoting family involvement, fostering competitive and social friendships, ensuring vehicle preparation, and providing racing opportunities for all members.
GORBA organises races at two main tracks: the Avalon Short Course Track and a longer track located at Moyston near Ararat. One of the unique aspects of GORBA is that participants do not need to have the biggest or best car, buggy, or 4-wheel drive to compete. As long as the entered vehicle has a current CAMS (Confederation of Australian Motor Sport) logbook, and its drivers, co-drivers, and navigators hold CAMS licences, they are eligible to race. Additionally, all vehicles must pass the required level of scrutineering for safety purposes.
Not only does GORBA hold its own Championship Series, but the club also supports other events such as the Mallee Shields and Victorian Championship. The club takes great pride in its members' achievements, with some even competing at the national level. GORBA is represented in nearly all classes of off-road vehicles, from Pro Buggies to Production 2WD cars.
In addition to racing, GORBA hosts various social events throughout the year, including the annual GORBA Christmas Party. These events provide members with opportunities to connect and build friendships outside the racing track.
Membership is open to anyone interested in off-road racing, from beginners to experienced racers. GORBA welcomes individuals who are passionate about the sport and eager to be part of a supportive community. Becoming a member of GORBA not only grants access to racing opportunities but also provides access to a network of fellow off-road racing enthusiasts.
The Geelong Off Road Buggy Association is committed to promoting off-road racing in a safe and inclusive environment. With a focus on family values, friendly competition, and an appreciation for well-prepared vehicles, GORBA is an ideal club for those interested in off-road racing in the Geelong area.
