The Game Hunters Association of Australia (GHAA) is a hunting organisation based in Gold Coast that aims to bring together hunters, landholders, government authorities, and the public to promote game, pest management, and safe hunting practises. As a not-for-profit organisation, GHAA is run by its members for its members.
Membership with GHAA offers a range of benefits. Firstly, GHAA is an approved organisation for 'Reason to Own' purposes, recognised by QLD and NSW Police Services. This means that members can use their membership with GHAA to meet the licencing requirements for firearms in QLD for Category A and B firearms, as well as category M crossbows. In NSW, GHAA is approved for licencing for Category A and B firearms.
GHAA offers the cheapest rates in Australia for this purpose, with even greater discounts available for multi-year memberships.
GHAA also provides access to Australia's best and most comprehensive general Hunter Education Course, allowing members to develop their hunting skills and knowledge. Additionally, members have the opportunity to hunt alongside trained, vetted, and insured hunters, providing fantastic hunting opportunities.
Membership with GHAA also includes firearms insurance and public liability coverage at no extra cost. This ensures that members are protected while participating in hunting activities. Furthermore, GHAA offers opportunities for members to assist farmers with feral pest management initiatives, allowing them to contribute to the local community.
Aside from hunting opportunities, GHAA also fosters a social community, providing social functions for like-minded individuals to come together and share their passion for hunting.
GHAA is also proactive in assisting landowners facing feral pest problems. Landowners experiencing issues with feral pests such as deer, pigs, goats, and foxes can contact GHAA's club committee. GHAA has a core group of experienced members with extensive feral and pest animal control experience, who can design programmes to suit individual landowner needs. All GHAA members undergo a vetting and training process before participating in GHAA programmes on private properties.
To become a member of GHAA, individuals can choose from three membership categories: Adult Membership, Junior Membership (under 18 years old), and Family Membership. GHAA offers great discounts for longer memberships, with options for 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year memberships available. Family Membership covers one or two adult parents and their children under 18 years old, all living at the same address. GHAA membership runs parallel with the financial year, without any pro rata calculations.
GHAA aims to promote hunting in a responsible, safe, and ethical manner, while also fostering a sense of community among hunters and landowners. For more information and to join GHAA, individuals can visit their website or contact them directly.
