

Located in Stromlo, Forest Park Riding & Equitation School has been owned and operated by Grant and Heather Hughes for many years, creating a nurturing family environment for all their clients. Their main objective is to share their love for horses and horse riding with individuals of all ages who are interested in equine pursuits.
One of the highlights of Forest Park is their trail rides, which provide a fun and relaxing way to learn new skills while enjoying the scenic views of Canberra. Riders of all levels, from beginners to advanced, aged 7 years and over, can spend an hour with the beautiful and unique horses at Forest Park. Whether riders prefer to come alone or bring a group of friends, the choice is completely up to them. Trail rides are available on most days, including public holidays.
For riders looking to develop their skills in a more social setting, Forest Park offers a wide range of group lessons tailored to different levels of experience and needs. Adult and children lessons are available seven days a week, following a regular term structure and also during school holidays. Additionally, Forest Park offers a School Holiday Programme for children, providing a fun and engaging activity during their break.
Private lessons are also available at Forest Park for riders of all levels and experience. Whether riders want to learn how to ride, brush up on their skills, or prepare for a competition, private lessons offer personalised attention. These lessons are available for both adults and children, using either the riding school horses and ponies or private horses.
With over 40 years of experience and accreditation by the Australian Horse Riding Centres (AHRC), Forest Park Riding School offers a wide range of additional services. These include Little League classes for children aged 2–7 years old, school holiday programmes, trail rides, agistment services, coaching for competition riders, and horse training and selling through Emmaville Performance Horses.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Forest Park has implemented safety measures in line with the ACT's COVID-19 pathway forward. Visitors are requested not to visit if they have flu or cold symptoms or are currently unwell with COVID-19. Forest Park acknowledges the importance of practising COVID-safe behaviours and being considerate of vulnerable individuals in the community.
