FNQ Motor Sports Car & Rally Club, also known as FNQ Motorsports, is a sports club based in Cairns, Far North Queensland. Established in the late 1980s, the club has been actively meeting and competing for decades, with a focus on promoting road safety through motorsport.
At FNQ Motorsports, the aim is to provide a platform for participants to have loads of competitive fun at a reasonable price. The club organises one or two-day events almost every month, offering opportunities for both novice and experienced drivers to develop their motorsports skills under controlled and supervised conditions.
The club offers two types of racing: dirt khanacross (short course rally) and bitumen sprint racing. Dirt khanacross events, which usually take place once a month, create a family-oriented environment where drivers can race according to their ability. The club races at two locations, Tepon Raceway near Herberton and Rally Sport Park Mareeba, and has developed a series of varied tracks through open fields and timbered forests. Each track is marked with hats and arrows, and each run is timed with penalties given for striking course markers.
Junior motorkhana and khanacross events are also available for children over 12 years old, allowing young enthusiasts to join in the action. Bitumen racing takes place at Springmount Raceway, offering a challenging sprint race around a demanding track with a complex set of corners. To compete in bitumen racing, participants must have a current driver's licence.
The club is currently working on a rally sprint event to be held at Mareeba Rally Sport Park. To compete in the S1 Rally Sprint, participants must be 16 years of age or older, and each crew member must hold a minimum of a CAMS Level 2S Licence.
