Welcome to Flinders University Hockey Club, one of the first sporting clubs established in 1966 in Adelaide. We are a friendly and inclusive club, always happy to welcome new players to join us. At Flinders Uni Hockey Club, we strive to provide a supportive and enjoyable environment for players of all skill levels, whether you're a beginner or a seasoned player.
One of our upcoming events is the Pink Sports Day in support of Breast Cancer, which will be hosted during Round 18 of the Metro Hockey Competition in 2023. This event is a great opportunity to show our support for a worthy cause and enjoy a day of exciting hockey.
For those looking to improve their skills, our Pitch Training sessions are back and held every Wednesday at Woodville. Women's training starts at 6:30 pm, followed by men's training. Dust off those sticks and join us to hone your hockey skills in a fun and challenging environment.
If you have any questions or need assistance, our dedicated club committee is always available to help. Our President, Chris Moody, along with other committee members such as Vice-Presidents Natasha Wood (Women's) and Rhys Sudholz (Men's), Secretary Nikki Fawcett, Treasurer David Edwards, and other key positions, are committed to ensuring a well-run and inclusive club environment.
We understand that joining a club involves various considerations, so we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) to address some of your concerns. Rest assured, you do not need to attend Flinders University to be a part of our club. We welcome players from all backgrounds, including students, full-time workers, and parents. We also offer a fee instalment plan to assist those who may be struggling with upfront costs.
Our home ground is currently at The University of Adelaide West Beach Hockey Centre, conveniently located at 625 Burbridge Rd, West Beach, SA, 5024. This is where our matches are played, and we also conduct our training sessions at this venue.
Whether you are a seasoned player or new to hockey, we welcome players of all levels of experience. Even if you've never played before, we are excited to introduce you to the sport and help you develop your skills.
To sign up, you can click on the “Register” button at the top of the page or get in touch with our club president or student representative. They will provide you with all the information you need to get started and answer any further questions you may have.
We encourage our members to get involved in umpiring throughout the season. Flinders University Hockey Club must supply an umpire for every game and offers payment for umpiring duties. If you know of anyone outside the club who would be available for umpiring, please let one of our committee members know.
We look forward to having you as a part of Flinders University Hockey Club, where you'll have the opportunity to meet new people, enjoy the thrill of the game, and be a part of a supportive and inclusive sporting community.
