The instructors at First Tae Kwon Do are highly qualified and have been officially appointed by the organisation. They are specially selected and carefully trained to bring out the best in their students. The classes are designed to ensure limitless benefits for a fulfilling way of life, including self-defence skills, fitness and good health, coordination, self-confidence, flexibility, strength, self-discipline/self-control, balance, concentration, mental focus, respect, self-esteem, and goal setting and achievement strategies.
The history of Tae Kwon Do dates back approximately 1300 years ago during the Silla Dynasty in Korea. First practised by monks, Tae Kwon Do evolved as a primitive art of unarmed combat. The art gained recognition and importance during the Silla Dynasty when King Chiu Heung gathered a group of strong, intellectual, and patriotic youth known as the Hwa Rang Do. They were trained in the practise of Tae-Kyon and played a vital role in unifying the three kingdoms of Silla, Koguryo, and Baekebae.
Despite setbacks during the Yi Dynasty and the Japanese occupation of Korea, Tae Kwon Do survived and later became popularly known as Taekwondo. In the 1960s, the seed of Taekwondo was planted in Australia, with South Australia's first class conducted by Master Vernon Low at the Adelaide Y. M. C.
A. centre. Today, First Taekwondo carries forward the legacy, with Chief Instructor John O'Brien promoting the art to thousands of South Australians, offering them the vast array of benefits from practising this modern and effective martial art.
