About

A sports club in Brentwood, Perth that offers traditional non-competitive martial art training in Tae Kwon Do. The club prides itself on maintaining traditional standards while adopting a progressive attitude and a comprehensive philosophy.

First Tae Kwon Do goes beyond teaching self-defence skills. The discipline, mental training, and various techniques of Tae Kwon Do also instil qualities such as confidence, fortitude, compassion, humility, and resolve in its practitioners. The club believes that true mastery of the martial art extends beyond physical ability and emphasises the importance of mental conditioning.

The instructors at First Tae Kwon Do are highly qualified and have been officially appointed by the organisation. They are carefully chosen and extensively trained to bring out the best in their students. The club offers classes in and around the Perth and WA Country areas, ensuring accessibility for all interested individuals.

Some benefits of training at First Tae Kwon Do include self-defence skills, improved fitness, coordination, self-confidence, flexibility, strength, self-discipline, self-control, balance, concentration, mental focus, respect, and self-esteem. The club also teaches goal-setting and achievement strategies, helping students develop a sense of purpose and motivation.

The history of Tae Kwon Do traces back to ancient Korea during the Silla Dynasty around 1300 years ago. Initially practised by monks, Tae Kwon Do evolved as a primitive form of unarmed combat. King Chiu Heung, the 24th king of Silla, gathered a group of strong, intellectual, and patriotic youths called Hwa Rang Do to defend the kingdom. This elite group practised Tae-Kyon and incorporated a strict moral code into their training.

During the Yi Dynasty, Tae Kwon Do faced setbacks as it was not encouraged, and literary arts were prioritised. The Japanese occupation further hindered its development, and the practise of Tae Kwon Do was forbidden. It was only after liberation that Tae Kwon Do started to regain popularity and revive as a practise. Today, Tae Kwon Do is known worldwide as Taekwondo.

First Taekwondo in Brentwood continues the legacy of Tae Kwon Do and offers a platform for individuals to learn and grow in this ancient martial art. For more information, interested individuals can contact the club through email or phone, or find them on social media platforms.
