The club meets every Thursday at 7pm at the Peninsula Leisure Centre, providing a great opportunity to train, have fun, and make new friends.
The Peninsula Leisure Centre is equipped with top-notch facilities including a 25m heated pool, a spa pool, a gym, and a café. With such amenities, swimmers can have a comfortable and enjoyable experience while pursuing their passion for swimming.
The Ettalong Pelican Masters Swimming Club has a rich history in the Australian swimming community. It was founded by Kevin Vickery and a Mr. Wilson, who played a vital role in getting female swimmers recognised in AUSSI swimming, the Australian Union of Senior Swimmers. This recognition from AUSSI swimming led to international recognition from Fina swimming.
The club's first national carnival took place at the North Sydney 50m pool, followed by successful carnivals in Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, and Melbourne.
The club takes pride in its members' achievements. Pelican member Paul Lemmon achieved remarkable success at the FINA World Masters Swimming in Italy, where he won multiple medals and set a championship record in the 200m backstroke event. Furthermore, Pelican Marion Dreyer participated in the Dawny 2. 4 km ocean swim, demonstrating the club's active participation in various swimming events.
The Ettalong Pelican Masters Swimming Club also organises its own events, such as the annual short course carnival, which is open to all swimmers. This carnival is held at the Peninsula Leisure Centre, providing a great opportunity for swimmers to showcase their skills and compete in a friendly and supportive environment.
