
The Essendon Hockey Club is the home of 2 Sand dressed Hockey Pitches only 5 minutes from the Melbourne Central Business District. It boasts strong representation in Regional, State and National teams and a social environment that is inclusive of all. Essendon Hockey Club has an opportunity for YOU to be involved, that may include; coaching, playing or volunteering around one of the leading hockey clubs in Victoria.
Essendon Hockey Club has developed a rich and proud history of success at every level of Victorian Hockey, in-particular A Grade / State League where we have amassed a record 17 premierships over our time in the competition (The most in Victorian Hockey). Essendon Hockey Club has produced scores of Australian Men’s and Junior Men’s representatives including most recently 2010 Singapore Youth Olympic Gold Medallist Oscar Wookey, 2004 Olympic gold medallist Michael Brennan and Australia’s most capped Kookaburra, Jay Stacy.
The Essendon hockey Club has reached a very exciting point in its development, winning Underage / top League premierships has not been an easy feat, the club has now embarked upon a development stratergy that will see our next crop of budding superstars given the Technical coaching and Development opportunities that others can only hope for. This new era of technical skill development will see the success that has become expected of the Essendon Hockey Club continue to grow. 2012 saw the launch of this plan which includes the Essendon Hockey Academy, designed to develop and craft the skills needed to succeed at the next level, keeping Essendon on the cutting edge of player development, all of this will be achieved by utilising current national and international players and coaches.
