Club. They will provide you with details on membership fees, training sessions, and any other requirements. The club offers three free “Come and Try” sessions for new swimmers, giving them a chance to experience the club's training environment and meet the coaches and fellow swimmers.
The club caters to swimmers of all ages and abilities, starting from 7 years old and up. Swimmers are supported in their development and encouraged to compete at District through to National levels. Training sessions are conducted in both Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance, and there is no compulsory training. Swimmers can choose to attend two or more sessions each week and are not required to swim every day.
Contrary to some myths, joining the club does not mean swimming every day of the week. There are training sessions available after school as well as early morning sessions, allowing swimmers to decide which ones they attend. Competition participation is also optional, and beginners in the development squad are not yet required to compete.
Swimming Victoria membership is necessary for all club swimmers and allows them to compete at any swim meet while providing insurance coverage during meets and scheduled club training sessions. Membership must be completed online through the Swimming Victoria website.
Coaching fees vary depending on the squad swimmers are placed in, and invoices will be sent to all swimmers for prompt payment of fees. Additionally, there are pool entry fees for both the Bairnsdale Aquatic and Recreation Centre (BARC) and Lakes Aquadome. Swimmers can decide from various swim pass options for entry to the pool.
Competition fees for GSI Swimming Meet Race and MSAC/Other Meet Race also apply, with the cost varying depending on the meet. Registration costs are non-refundable.
The East Gippsland Waterdragons Swim Club welcomes swimmers of all ages, genders, and abilities. There are no barriers to becoming a swimmer, and the club aims to inspire everyone to reach their swimming goals. Swimming as part of a club offers numerous benefits, including having fun with friends, learning new skills, developing time management and goal-setting abilities, building cardiovascular strength, and relieving stress.
