Established in 1886, the East Doncaster Cricket Club has a long and rich history within the Manningham Community of Melbourne. What started as a small club comprised of local fruit-growing families has now evolved into one of the most successful clubs in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
The club's success is evident through its impressive collection of nearly seventy topships, including three Dunstan Shield flags won in 2008/09, 2018/19, and 2020/21. The club has also produced numerous junior representative players, some of whom have gone on to represent Victoria at an underage level.
Beyond on-field success, the East Doncaster Cricket Club is deeply invested in its local community. The club actively engages with the community through partnerships with organisations such as Onemda and Doncare, and more recently, EDVOS. Since 2007, the club has partnered with Onemda to deliver the “No Boundaries sporting programmes,” offering individuals with disabilities the chance to participate in cricket.
Additionally, the East Doncaster CC has developed strong relationships with primary schools in the Manningham area. The club conducts cricket clinics aimed at providing boys and girls with the opportunity to learn and enjoy the game.
The club is proud of its sponsorships, particularly the long-standing support from the Doncaster East Community Bank, which has contributed over $250,000 since 2005. The club values and appreciates the support of all its sponsors.
Looking ahead, the East Doncaster Cricket Club aims to continue fostering strong community partnerships while providing opportunities for players of all ages and abilities. In the 2022/23 season, the club fielded four senior sides, including two playing on turf on Saturdays, a Sunday turf side, one LOC Saturday team, an Over 50s Veteran side, and an Over 60s Veteran side, marking the first time the club entered a side in that age division. Additionally, the club fielded five junior sides and ran the Woolworth's Cricket Blast programmes for beginners.
