Dynomite Bouldering | Bouldering in Wollongong

Dynomite Bouldering is Wollongong's first purpose-built bouldering gym, dedicated to providing a bouldering hub for climbers of all levels. Located at Unit 1, Shop 2, 91-95 Montague St, North Wollongong, NSW, the gym offers a range of boulder problems to cater to beginners and seasoned experts alike.

Bouldering is a thrilling and fulfilling sport that strips rock climbing down to its bare essentials. At Dynomite, climbers can enjoy the challenge of solving “boulder issues” without the need for ropes or gear. All you require are climbing shoes, chalk, and your own determination. These boulder issues are marked with colour-coded holds and follow a specific sequence set by the gym's experienced setting team.

Each issue is graded incrementally, allowing climbers of all skill levels to find a challenge that suits them. Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced climber, there will be climbs to push your limits and improve your skills. The highest point of the gym's walls reaches 4. 5 metres, and the gym is equipped with climbing-specific crash mats to ensure safety in the event of a fall.

What sets Dynomite apart is its inclusive and social atmosphere. The gym welcomes climbers of all backgrounds and fosters a supportive community. Whether you are a regular climber or just trying it out for the first time, the dedicated staff at Dynomite will provide a safety induction to ensure you are comfortable and ready to tackle the boulder issues. Additionally, the gym offers climbing shoes for rent or purchase, so you don't have to worry about any equipment.

To get started, simply fill out a waiver form and watch a safety video upon arrival. The staff will guide you through the gym, teach you how to climb and fall safely, and provide some general gym etiquette. Once you've completed the induction, you'll be fitted with climbing shoes, and you can start climbing the colour-coordinated routes around the gym. The fun lies in figuring out the best way to reach the top, as each climb is like a physical puzzle to solve.
