The Downs and South Western District Ladies Golf Association (DSWDLGA) is a well-established sports club located in Toowoomba Regional, Australia. The club was formed in 1978 with the vision of creating a golf district that caters to the needs of women golfers in the Darling Downs and South West Queensland regions.
The club has a rich history and was founded by a dedicated and passionate steering committee. Dot Parker from the City Golf Club was appointed as the first President, Merna Atkins of Toowoomba Golf Club served as the Secretary/Treasurer, and Ruth Hungerford of Clifton took on the role of Handicap Manager. Their collective efforts and drive led to the successful establishment of the DSWDLGA.
The club organises and hosts various events throughout the year, including the prestigious Federation Fourball and the Executive Challenge. These events provide an opportunity for women golfers to showcase their skills and compete against fellow golfers from different districts. The club also participates in a range of district events, such as the Junior Jug, Inter-District Matchplay, Junior Postal Pennants, and the Meg Nunn State Inter-District Matchplay.
In addition to hosting competitive events, the DSWDLGA actively promotes and supports the development of junior and senior teams. The club aims to foster a friendly and inclusive environment where golfers of all ages and skill levels can come together to enjoy the sport.
The club's website provides a comprehensive directory of current and past events, as well as detailed results of each competition. Golf enthusiasts can access all the latest news, upcoming events, and contact information through the website. The DSWDLGA is proud to be affiliated with Golf Australia and adheres to their rules and regulations.
