Doncaster Dolphins

Doncaster Dolphins Masters Swimming Club, established in 1983, is an adult swimming club located in Melbourne, Victoria. Affiliated with Masters Swimming Australia, the national body, Doncaster Dolphins offers both competitive and social swimming options for its members, providing a combination of fun, fitness, and friendship. The club is one of the longest-running swimming clubs in Victoria and is proud to be based at the Aquarena Aquatic and Leisure Centre, situated in Williamsons Road, Doncaster.

The Aquarena Aquatic and Leisure Centre is an excellent facility that boasts a heated 50-metre outdoor pool, which is open year-round, a 25-metre indoor pool, a gym, and an aerobics room. This state-of-the-art venue provides a conducive environment for members to enhance their swimming skills and stay physically active.

In line with the Victorian Government's guidelines for safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, Doncaster Dolphins emphasises the importance of adhering to the necessary precautions. Members are required to stay at home and get tested if they are feeling unwell. The club is dedicated to promoting inclusivity, equality, diversity, and inclusion, welcoming individuals aged 18 and over from all backgrounds.

Doncaster Dolphins Masters Swimming Club recognises and respects the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which they train. The club pays homage to their culture and Elders, both past and present.

Prospective members are encouraged to reach out to the club with any queries they may have about joining. As a part of the membership process, individuals are welcome to participate in three free training sessions to assess whether Doncaster Dolphins aligns with their needs. The training session times can be found on the 'Training' tab of the club's website. To join, members can register and pay for their memberships online through the Masters Swimming Australia (MSA) website, ensuring they are insured while swimming at any Masters Swimming organised event.

The yearly membership fee covers MSA, Masters Swimming Victoria (MSV), and Doncaster Dolphins membership.

With a diverse membership of approximately 100 swimmers ranging from 18 years old to individuals in their 90s, the Doncaster Dolphins cater to individuals of varying swimming abilities. Whether members are beginners who started swimming later in life or experienced swimmers with State, National, or International records, the club values each member equally. Some swimmers focus on competitive swimming, while others swim purely for fitness and friendship.

Membership benefits at Doncaster Dolphins include participation in all club activities, the ability to compete in all FINA Masters sanctioned meets, and access to training opportunities with other Masters Clubs worldwide. Additionally, club members receive a generous discount on a 12-month membership at the Aquarena Aquatic and Leisure Centre, contributing to their overall fitness journey.

To ensure a positive and respectful environment within the club, all members are encouraged to familiarise themselves with Masters Swimming Australia's “Member Protection Policy,” which promotes ethical decision-making and responsible behaviour in the sport. The club also has a Grievance Procedure in place to address any concerns or issues that may arise.
