Dicky Beach Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) is a non-profit community service organisation located on the stunning Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. The club's main focus is providing an essential emergency rescue service to beach-goers, ensuring a safe environment for everyone at Dicky Beach. They are committed to their vision of “Zero Preventable Deaths” within their patrol environs.
In addition to their emergency rescue and medical services, the dedicated volunteer members of Dicky Beach SLSC offer a range of community programmes. These programmes include preventative measures to ensure beach safety, surf safety information through community education programmes, youth development programmes, and healthy lifestyle initiatives. The Club is deeply rooted in the rich tradition of the Australian Surf Life Saving movement and has seen numerous young men and women rise through their ranks to become world-class champions and active, committed, and generous members of the community.
The club has a long and storied history, having been established in 1950 under the name North Caloundra SLSC. Prior to the establishment of the club, Dicky Beach was only patrolled during the Christmas/New Year and Easter holidays by members from Metropolitan Caloundra SLSC at Kings Beach. However, as the area around Moffat Beach and Dicky Beach became more populated, the need for regular weekend patrols became evident, leading to the formation of the club.
Dicky Beach SLSC has a strong presence on social media and regularly updates its members and followers about current events and activities through its website and newsletters. They also hold general meetings to keep their members informed. The club also organises fundraisers and sponsorship opportunities to support their important work and provide necessary resources for their operations.
