About

Shearing. In the 80s and 90s, the club continued to thrive, with strong senior and junior teams competing in local and regional competitions.

Today, Dee Why Lions Rugby Club is a well-established and respected sports club in Sydney. With a strong emphasis on participation, team spirit, fair play, and fun, we provide opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels to enjoy the game of rugby. From our lion cubs and minis to our juniors and seniors, we welcome new players who are looking to be part of a supportive and inclusive community.

One of our key focuses is the development of female players within our club. We are proud of the reputation we have earned for supporting the growth and empowerment of female rugby players. Starting from our younger age groups, we strive to create equal opportunities for girls to participate and excel in the sport. Our goal is to extend this support into our older age groups as we continue to evolve and strengthen our club.

Dee Why Lions Rugby Club is affiliated with Rugby Australia, the governing body for rugby in Australia. For juniors, we are a member of the Warringah Junior Rugby Union, which includes other local clubs such as Collaroy, Narrabeen, Newport, Pittwater, Terrey Hills, and Wakehurst. Our seniors compete in the NSW Suburban Rugby Union, showcasing our commitment to providing opportunities for players of all ages to engage in the sport at various levels.

Our history dates back to 1960 when the club was initially formed as a Junior Rugby Football Club. Since then, we have overcome challenges and grown in numbers and reputation. The name Dee Why Lions originated from the British & Irish Lions rugby tour in Australia and New Zealand in the late 1950s, paying tribute to their success and influence on the sport. We adopted red as our primary club colour to symbolise strength and pride.

To connect with us, you can find us at James Morgan Reserve, Fisher Rd Nth, Cromer, or reach out to us through our contact information provided. Whether you want to get involved as a player, spectator, volunteer, or sponsor, we welcome you to join us and be a part of the Dee Why Lions Rugby Club community. Together, we can continue to enjoy the great game of rugby and celebrate our 60th anniversary in 2020!
