Deaf Community & Sports South Australia Inc. (DCSSA) provides support and engages Deaf and Hard of Hearing children and adults to participate in community, sport, and recreation activities for healthy lifestyles and personal development.
DCSSA is run by Deaf/Hard of Hearing board members, staff, and volunteers.
The genesis of what is currently known as DCSSA was the “Deaf Committee” established by South Australian Deaf people in 1911 as a formal communication link between the Deaf Community and the Deaf Society. In 1984, after seven successful decades of operation, the Deaf Committee was folded into a newly-established incorporated association (DCSSA) formed to obtain a bar licence and lease on the Adelaide Deaf Centre.
