One of the most enduring and successful clubs in the Darwin competition, the Darwin Dragons has been a participant in the local rugby scene for more than 30 years.
Darwin Dragons Rugby Union Club’s early beginnings were spawned in the 1970s when the competition first commenced. The club was formed when rugby league sides RSL and Nightcliff Dragons joined forces to enter a side RSL Dragons- into the newly started rugby union competition in 1976-77.
leadingship success came to the club in the mid 80s when the B grade side won the 1982-83 flag, and the A grade team followed up with a topship in 1984-85. Since the club’s formation, 8 A grade, 9 B grade flags, and many junior titles have been won by the club.
