Dapto Physie Club is a family-friendly sports club located in Wollongong, Australia. As a Physie club, they offer a professionally structured dance syllabus developed by Bjelke-Petersen (BjP), a nationally recognised dance school. Physie is a combination of exercises, ballet, jazz, stretching, and Pilates, designed to improve strength, posture, grace, confidence, coordination, and flexibility.
In addition to the physical benefits, Physie also fosters friendship, sportsmanship, self-discipline, balance, and music appreciation. The club welcomes individuals of all experience levels, with no prior experience required. They even offer a free trial lesson to give interested individuals a chance to experience Physie firsthand.
The club's classes are held at the Dapto Ribbonwood Centre, providing a convenient and accessible location for all participants. Students are placed in classes based on their age as of August 31st of each year.
For practise sessions, participants can wear a black leotard or shorts and a t-shirt. The club also offers second-hand leotards for purchase from their clothing pool, as well as club t-shirts and jackets. During competitions, a leotard with the BjP logo is required. New leotards can be ordered directly from Danz Design or online, with an approximate cost of $60-$80.
For preschool children, it is required that an adult be present within the foyer during class time, as the teacher is unable to leave the class to assist with toileting and other needs. Throughout the year, the club also holds open days for family members to observe their child's progress.
With its focus on fitness, skill development, and a welcoming environment, Dapto Physie Club offers an excellent opportunity to engage in the enjoyable and rewarding world of Physie.
