The Brown Snakes are potentially the most formidable rugby club in Newcastle rugby history. Legend has it two Cooks Hill locals founded the young club on a drunken Saturday night in in 2006 at the Great Northern Hotel but no one truly knows the origins of this Novacastrian institution. Renown for being a hilarious sexual innuendo as much as it is for being one of the younger clubs in Newcastle (with majority of its players being students of the University of Newcastle), but more so for it's efforts off the field.
