In 1961 The Mid North Pony Club (Clare) opened the first rally of the season on Saturday 11th November with 41 horses and ponies attending. Clare Horse and Pony Club, as it is now known, has remained a strong club throughout its years of existance, some original committee members are still active committee members today, and are a credit to its sucess.
Clare Horse and Pony Club has over the years played host to many local, state and international events. The International Pony Club One Day Event championships where held in Clare on May 10th and 11th, 1986. Teams from Canada, Japan, New Zealand and two from Australia competed. There was also an interstate section and a section for state club teams.
This enormous event coincided with Clare Horse and Pony Club's 25th anniversary. Clare Horse and Pony Club regularly has riders competing at local, state and national levels.
From humble beginnings to now, Clare Horse and Pony Club has and will always be, a family orientated club encouraging good horsemanship, good friendships and citizenship.
