Templin, Chief Instructor of Chikara Karate in Endeavour Hills, has established the club as the largest and most reputable in the area since its inception in 1985. The success of the club has led to the opening of a second dojo in Sandringham.
Certified by the Australian Sports Commission as Level 1 Coaches, the friendly instructors at Chikara Karate have undergone extensive training and are dedicated to providing excellent guidance and instruction to students of all ages. The style of karate taught at Chikara Karate is based on the Shukokai style, which originated from the traditional Shito Ryu system. It is a dynamic martial art that combines traditional values and disciplines with modern teaching methods.
Chikara Karate is suitable for both males and females due to its emphasis on effective techniques rather than relying on brute strength. It is a well-balanced martial art that incorporates various disciplines such as kicking, punching, blocking, throwing, and grappling. Participating in Chikara Karate not only improves strength, fitness, flexibility, and coordination but also enhances concentration, self-discipline, confidence, and character.
As a member of Chikara Karate, individuals are affiliated with the Australian Karate Federation and Kobe Osaka International, which provide opportunities for national and international tournament fighting. The club offers the chance for individuals to engage in both local and international competitions.
Sensei Joe Templin, the Chief Instructor, possesses an impressive list of qualifications and achievements. With 33 years of experience in karate and self-defence, he holds a 5th Degree Black Belt and Level 1 National Coaching Accreditation. Templin has defeated the world champion in the 1986 world championship tournament and achieved the rank of fourth in World Competition.
