The sport of woodchopping. The CDAA promotes and fosters the sport of woodchopping, providing opportunities for both experienced axemen and newcomers to compete and showcase their skills.
The Central Districts Axemen's Association was established in Waroona, Western Australia on October 19th, 1978. It was incorporated on July 31st, 1979, under the Associations Incorporation Act 1987. Since its establishment, the CDAA has been organising woodchopping competitions in various districts across Western Australia.
The CDAA is responsible for organising woodchopping competitions in the southwest districts between Jarrahdale, Byford, Rockingham, Mandurah, Dwellingup, Waroona, and the wheatbelt districts between Brookton, Boddington, Pingelly, and Narrogin. Some notable events organised by the CDAA include the Jarrahdale 1500 Log Chop & Community Fair, Waroona Agricultural Show, and Dwellingup Log Chop & Community Fair.
Visitors to CDAA woodchops can witness axemen competing in various events, such as the Underhand, Standing Block, and Tree Felling competitions. They can also witness the excitement of the Double Handed Cross Cut Sawing and Chainsaw races at selected venues. Junior wood chopping events are also featured, with competitors as young as 9 years old wielding super-sharp axes. Novice competitors, be it young or mature age group, are also encouraged to participate, providing an opportunity for newcomers to try their hand at the sport.
