Cave Divers Association of Australia

The Cave Divers Association of Australia (CDAA) is a sports club located in the Wellington Council region. As a non-profit organisation, CDAA is dedicated to promoting and facilitating safe cave diving experiences in Australia.

CDAA prides itself on providing member support, working closely with landowners to ensure access to some of the best cave diving sites in the country. Members receive local support, social events, and a quarterly magazine called Guidelines, which covers a wide range of topics related to the world of cave diving.

Safety is of utmost importance to CDAA, and they have highly experienced instructors on hand to train divers in managing the risks associated with cave diving. Through their comprehensive training programmes, divers can develop the necessary skills to safely explore the captivating underwater caves.

One of the key advantages of being a CDAA member is access to over 50 dive sites across Australia. These sites offer diverse and stunning underwater landscapes, with new discoveries being made regularly.

Even if you're not a member, CDAA extends a warm welcome to certified cave divers as well. Visitors can apply for a 3-month Visitor Diving Permit, granting them access to the benefits of full membership during their visit.

CDAA also organises various events and courses throughout the year. These events provide opportunities for divers to further enhance their skills and knowledge. Upcoming events include the 50th Anniversary AGM and Symposium Weekend in November 2023, which will take place at the Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre in Mount Gambier.

For those interested in getting started with cave diving or expanding their skills, CDAA offers training programmes to suit different levels of experience. Their CDAA Basic Cave course is ideal for individuals looking to explore cave diving for the first time. To enrol in this course, divers are required to hold an Advanced Open Water recreational SCUBA diver award or equivalent and have a minimum of 12 Open Water dives under their belt.
