Carine Callisthenics Club is a sports club located in Perth, Western Australia. Specialising in callisthenics, a unique Australian team sport that combines elements of gymnastics, dance, and simplified ballet, the club is dedicated to fostering self-esteem, confidence, and personal growth in its members.
At Carine Callisthenics Club, children who have a passion for dancing and gymnastics will find an exciting and supportive environment to pursue their interests. The club offers a variety of team-based activities that promote physical skills, coordination, rhythm, and self-discipline.
The club's programme includes several team-based items. Rod Manipulation involves the movement and manipulation of a metal rod, which helps develop technical skills, hand-eye coordination, and multitasking abilities. Clubs feature circular swings with wooden clubs, building fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, rhythm, and multitasking. In March, participants learn marching techniques to create complex patterns, improving spatial awareness, core strength, rhythm, and deportment.
Free Exercise focuses on strength and flexibility movements, emphasising core strength, flexibility, and deportment. Aesthetics involves graceful and technically placed movements, promoting musical appreciation, grace, poise, and emotional expression.
Additionally, Carine Callisthenics Club offers a “fancy item” each year. This item is selected from a rotation of options based on the age group and can include activities such as singing with movement and expression, dance arrangements, character dances, and creative performances that tell a story. These fancy items add variety and excitement to the callisthenics experience.
The club takes pride in creating a supportive and inclusive community, where lifelong friendships are formed. The members have the opportunity to showcase their talents and skills on stage, boosting their confidence and self-esteem. Through Callisthenics, children not only develop physical abilities but also learn important life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and communication.
