The Callide Valley Tennis Association, located in Banana Shire, Queensland, is a renowned sports club with a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1929. Originally, several clubs were affiliated with the association, and weekly fixtures were played throughout the district. Eventually, in the early 1960s, all fixtures were centralised in Biloela.
Prior to the establishment of the association, local tennis was predominantly played on courts owned by Mr. R. Brown on the southern side of the railway lines. These courts continued to be utilised until 1939.
The association's first tournament in the local area took place in 1929.
Over the years, the Callide Valley Tennis Association has undergone significant development. In the early 1940s, Courts 1, 2, and 3 were constructed on Prairie Street, along with a rudimentary three-sided shed. In the 1960s, Courts 4, 5, 6, and 7 were added, and a more extensive clubhouse was established. This clubhouse is still in use today and has undergone continuous improvements, including the addition of shaded areas, a child supervision area, and a playground.
Additional expansion occurred in 1976 when Courts 8, 9, and 10 were built on the opposite side of Prairie Street. In 1981, Courts 1 – 4 were upgraded with a flexipave surface, which has since been resurfaced three times, most recently in 2011. In 1985, Courts 5, 6, and 7 were covered with artificial grass, and Courts 8, 9, and 10 were upgraded with a flexipave surface. By 1992, Courts 8, 9, and 10 experienced cracking, leading to a temporary solution of resurfacing them with artificial grass.
In 2011, a stabiliser was applied to the existing base of these three courts, and new artificial grass was laid due to extensive cracking.
