Busselton Aero Club, located at the Busselton Regional Airport in the picturesque town of Busselton, is a vibrant sports club dedicated to all things aviation. With a rich history of successfully running airshows, expos, and aerofests, the club has become a hub for aviation enthusiasts and pilots in the area. In fact, BAC has hosted over 800 school children on visits to the airport and boasts a training programme that has produced more than 200 pilots.
Membership at Busselton Aero Club is open to all, regardless of whether you are already a pilot or simply have a passion for aviation. The club currently has approximately 100 members, with new ones joining regularly. The club prides itself on being inclusive and provides a supportive community for anyone interested in flying.
Learning to fly has never been easier, thanks to recent changes in regulations. BAC offers flight training in two main categories of licencing: Recreational/Sport Aviation (RA) and General Aviation (GA). The RA licence allows you to fly yourself and a friend within Australia, while the GA licence opens the door to unrestricted flying and a potential career in the industry. Whether you aspire to captain a commercial jet or simply want to experience the joy of flying, Busselton Aero Club can help make your dreams a reality.
One of the biggest advantages of learning to fly with Busselton Aero Club is the cost-effectiveness offered by the RA licence. Obtaining an RA certificate typically costs between $5000 and $10,000, compared to the $20,000 to $30,000+ required for a GA licence. This significant price difference can be attributed to the role played by CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority) and the lower aircraft expense associated with RA.
The club is managed by a dedicated committee of nine members, elected yearly, who are responsible for bringing new and exciting initiatives to the club. However, BAC welcomes input from all members and encourages everyone to contribute to the club's success. The committee is headed by President Zeb Packard Hair, who can be contacted at president@busseltonaeroclub. com.
