The Waves Ladies Bowling Club is a thriving sporting club located in Bundaberg, Queensland. Established in 1986, the club was formed by women in the local area who wanted to create their own bowling club. Today, the club boasts 70 active members and welcomes newcomers, including men, at any time during the playing season.
Games are held at The Waves Sports Complex on Thabeban Road, and the club offers a range of bowling opportunities for its members. This includes senior singles and teams, as well as social and competition matches. The club's shaded greens provide the perfect setting for both social and competitive games.
Playing days are held every Friday from 1:00pm to 4:30pm, with the playing season starting in late January and concluding in early December. The official start to the year is celebrated with a “Friendship Day” in early February. Additionally, the club hosts “money days” on the second Friday of each month, offering a prize purse of $400 for winners, runners-up, and sportsman prizes. Competition bowls are also played at various intervals throughout the year.
Coaching is available for those who want to improve their skills, and the club can lend bowls if needed. When playing, members are required to wear flat shoes, and it is recommended to have a hat and sunscreen for sun protection.
In addition to the regular games and competitions, The Waves Ladies Bowling Club also provides access to the Queensland Bowler magazine, which is available for free online to all members. This allows members to stay up-to-date with the latest news and information from Bowls Queensland.
