Brisbane Water Netball Club, located in the Central Coast region of New South Wales, is a vibrant and inclusive sports club dedicated to fostering new friendships through fun and fitness. As a proud member of the Woy Woy Peninsula Netball Association, the club offers a range of programmes for players, umpires, coaches, managers, and committee members, with over 100 members currently involved.
Originally formed as the Woy Woy Peninsula Netball Club in 1974, the club later became known as Brisbane Water Netball Club in the 80s. This name change allowed for children from other areas to join the club, creating a more diverse and inclusive community. Many former players, teachers, and parents who attended St John the Baptist Primary School in Woy Woy have fond memories of playing netball for St Johns Netball, which later became Brisbane Water Netball Club.
The club takes pride in its connexion to accomplished player Megan Anderson, who began her netball journey with St Johns Netball at the age of 8. Anderson went on to represent both Australia and New Zealand in national competitions before the formation of the ANZ Championship in 2008. As a player, she achieved great success with the Sydney Swifts, Adelaide Ravens, and Northern Force. Following her retirement in 2011, Anderson transitioned into coaching.
As a part of the Woy Woy Peninsula Netball Association, Brisbane Water Netball Club competes at the Lemon Grove Netball Courts in Ettalong. The association is also responsible for the governance of all clubs participating at these courts. The association's representative team competes in various carnivals during winter, providing players with opportunities for further development and competition.
