Brave Hearts Dragon Boat Club is a sports club located in Wodonga, Australia. The club offers a unique and exciting team sport known as dragon boating, where 20 individuals, in pairs, paddle in sync in a single boat. Men, women, and mixed teams are all encouraged to join, as there is something for everyone.
The club is open to all individuals, regardless of whether they have had a cancer diagnosis. Many of the members have had a personal experience with cancer, while others are friends, families, or supporters of the cause. The club prides itself on being a welcoming and supportive community, providing opportunities for friendship, social connexions, and an active lifestyle.
Regular exercise is not only beneficial for overall health and wellbeing, but research has shown that it can also reduce the chances of cancer recurrence. Brave Hearts Dragon Boat Club aims to support its members in improving their fitness and activity levels, all while having fun and doing their personal best.
For those who are new to dragon boating, Brave Hearts offers a “Come and Try” session, where beginners and those wanting a more relaxed experience can join in. All the necessary equipment is provided, and participants are taught how to paddle. The club recommends wearing comfortable clothing, bringing a drink, hat, and sunscreen. The first three paddle sessions are free with no commitment.
If competition is more your style, Brave Hearts has a racing team that competes across Victoria during summer. The racing teams train twice a week during summer, focusing on improving personal fitness and paddling technique. The club attends one regatta per month, mainly in Melbourne or country Victoria.
Brave Hearts Dragon Boat Club is always excited to welcome new recruits. Whether you're looking for a fun and active way to stay fit, make new friends, or compete at a higher level, the club is ready to meet you. Connect with Brave Hearts and join the thrilling world of dragon boating.
