In advance for their tennis sessions. The Bluebell Hill Tennis Club offers an online booking system for convenient court reservations. Members are reminded to preserve the new court surfaces by “bagging” the courts after play. Bagging involves using drag mats to erase footmarks and maintain an even spread of surface materials.
The Club holds social tennis sessions on Monday nights from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Two groups are formed, one for more consistent players and another for less experienced players who may be less confident in their play. Members interested in participating can join the Monday WhatsApp group to coordinate play. Social tennis nights are hosted by various committee members throughout the year.
Bluebell Hill Tennis Club also organises social functions three times a year. These events provide opportunities for members and their families to come together, enjoy refreshments, and participate in fun activities on the courts. In a recent social function held on 24 August 2023, the club provided pizza and drinks while TopTenn entertained the kids. It was a fantastic evening enjoyed by all.
The Club boasts attractive facilities, including a newly-built clubhouse and well-maintained landscaping in Bluebell Hill Reserve. The nearby park offers playground facilities for children, making it a great place for families to spend time while their parents enjoy a game of tennis. Membership at Bluebell Hill Tennis Club is open to residents living in the area bounded by Station Street, Maroondah Highway (Whitehorse Road), Union Road, and Riversdale Road.
Bluebell Hill has a rich history, with its origins dating back to the mid-19th century when it was known as “Bluebell Hill” and served as a chicken farm. The land was eventually gifted to the Box Hill Council and remained as open community space. In the 1990s, local residents took over the club and, with the assistance of the Council, rebuilt the clubhouse and improved the park's landscaping.
Currently, the club has approximately 170 families as members. With its non-competitive and social nature, Bluebell Hill Tennis Club caters to the needs of families in the Surrey Hills area who wish to play tennis regularly or occasionally. Whether you're a seasoned player or just starting out, Bluebell Hill Tennis Club welcomes you to join their friendly community and enjoy the sport in a beautiful setting.
