Blackheath Football Club

Blackheath Football Club (BFC) is a thriving sports club located in the picturesque Blue Mountains of New South Wales. With a rich history spanning 40 years, BFC has been a prominent figure in fostering and developing amateur football in the Upper Blue Mountains community.

In an exciting development, BFC is proud to announce its inaugural Summer Development Programme, known as Summer Football. This programme will take place at Blackheath Oval starting from 18th October 2023 at 6pm. Players interested in joining this programme must register online prior to participation. The registration fees are $30 for current registered players and $35 for those not already registered.

The Summer Development Programme presents a unique opportunity for football enthusiasts to further hone their skills and enjoy the sport in a vibrant and engaging setting.

Another recent highlight for BFC was the 2023 Presentation Day, held on the 17th of September at Mountains Christian College in Blackheath. Despite the early arrival of summer temperatures, the event drew a considerable turnout, and the club extends its gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the day. Special acknowledgements go to Andy, Melissa, Luke, Renée (the club's secretary), and Wendy (the duty officer) for their exceptional efforts in organising and running the event.

Under the guidance of the new committee, BFC has introduced an exciting initiative called the Best & Fairest Award. Each game sees the recognition of an individual's outstanding performance, with photos capturing the joy and pride of the recipients. This initiative has been well-received by the young players, adding a new level of competitiveness and motivation to their football experience.

BFC is also dedicated to the development of young players through its Mini-Roos Kick-Off programme. This programme takes place during school term 2 on Fridays at 4:30pm at Blackheath Oval. Led by experienced coaches Olly and Thomas, the programme offers a fun and engaging introduction to the sport for aspiring footballers.

In efforts to improve the sporting facilities in the community, BFC is an active supporter of the Blackheath Sports Precinct Group (BSPG). Comprising various sports and recreation organisations, including Blackheath Cricket Club, Blackheath Tennis Club, Blackheath Rugby League Club, and Blackheath Scouts, BSPG aims to upgrade the facilities at Blackheath Oval. Backed by the Blue Mountains City Council, the proposal for a new community sports centre has received widespread support, and BFC remains committed to enhancing the sporting experience for its members and the broader community.
