The club was officially opened by then President of the Royal, George Carson, on Saturday 26th January, 1952 the Anniversary Holiday weekend, at which time each year the club still celebrates its Foundation Day. Good progress continued undder the next President Stan Hayes, backed by a willing committee and working members 0 weeding of green establishment of gardens, concreting, painting, cleaning, and the bar service being all done by voluntary labour in those early days.
