Bellarine Sharks Soccer Club, located in St Leonards, Victoria, is a proud and progressive sports club that aims to provide fun, enjoyable, and inclusive soccer opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels. With a membership of over 100 soccer players drawn from the Geelong area, the club has become a go-to sports club across the Bellarine Peninsula.
The club was established in 2004 by Murray Hall to address the demand for local junior sporting opportunities in St Leonards and the Northern Bellarine Peninsula during the winter months. The club colours are Black and Royal Blue, with the home kit featuring vertical stripes similar to that of Inter Milan. Bellarine Sharks is a family-friendly club that promotes diversity and inclusiveness in all aspects of its operations.
The club offers a range of teams and programmes to cater to different age groups and skill levels. The Miniroos Programme is designed for children aged 4-5 and offers teams for Under 7's, Under 9's, and Under 11's. These programmes focus on skill development in a fun and supportive environment. The Junior teams, starting from Under 12's, allow for greater skill progression and competition in a family-like setting.
There is also a Senior Men's and Women's team that provides an opportunity for players to further develop their skills and compete at a higher level.
In addition to the regular teams, Bellarine Sharks also has a Masters team for players aged 35 and above. This team offers friendly competition with social catch-ups after games. The Masters team is the only team that plays over summer.
The club takes pride in its community involvement and offers the Go Soccer Mums programme, designed specifically for women to socialise and learn basic football skills together in a friendly and inclusive environment.
Bellarine Sharks Soccer Club also recognises the achievements and improvement of its players through various awards. These awards are given to players with the highest percentage of overall improvement in all events.
The club is supported by TYD Automotive and plays their home games at the TYD Automotive Oval, also known as Len Trewin Reserve, in St Leonards. The ground is equipped with brand new lighting for the 2022 season to facilitate training and games.
