About
Beach Rugby hit Australian shores in 2008 at Mordialloc Beach in Melbourne. The event took the original concept from the beaches in Italy where Super Beach Rugby 5’s are held annually in Lignano. The competition is basic. 5 players per side.
5 minute halves. No scrums, no line outs, no kicking or crying if you lose. A try is worth 1 point.
The event is run by Mahino events at beaches in South Australia, New South Wales, Melbourne, Queensland, and Bali. The concept of the event is to promote 15 a side rugby expanding the game from being played only in winter and on grass and promoting it on the beaches and sand. It’s a great game and fun sport to play and a great way to get a tan.
