Barnstoneworth United Football Club – Orange, located in Orange City Council, is a renowned sports club that prides itself on its commitment to both junior and senior football. With a focus on promoting a family-oriented and inclusive environment, Barnies (as it is affectionately called) encourages mateship and the enjoyment of football both on and off the pitch.
In the juniors division, Barnies consistently fields multiple teams, welcoming young players to register and become part of the club. To ensure the development and success of these junior teams, Barnies is always on the lookout for dedicated coaches and offers an excellent coach support programme.
For senior players, Barnstoneworth United FC competes in two prestigious competitions. The club fields a team in the top tier Western top League (WPL), showcasing its commitment to high-level competition. Additionally, Barnies competes in the local ODFA competition, participating in the Female All Age, Mixed A, B & C Grades, Masters Over 35, and introducing a new Father/Son team in the C Grade this year.
While the club values strong performance on the field, Barnies also places great importance on the social aspect of the game. The club strongly encourages players to enjoy their time with their teammates after each match, fostering a sense of camaraderie and community.
The registration for the upcoming season is now open, and interested individuals can visit the Barnies website to complete the registration process. The club committee expresses its gratitude for the support received in the previous season and hopes that players are eager to return in 2023. Despite the perceived distance, the club emphasises the importance of preparing early for the upcoming season. Barnies will prioritise the preseason for all senior players, starting with a fitness trial on Sunday, December 11th, at 4pm in Jack Brabham Park.
The full trials will commence on Sunday, January 15th, at the same location and will continue until the start of the full season.
To facilitate team organisation, the club requests all interested players to indicate their intention to play for Barnies by completing the Expression of Interest (EOI) form on the club's website. It is worth noting that WPL, A, and B grade players are required to attend trials to secure a spot on a team, while players in other grades are encouraged to participate for fitness and training purposes.
Several important dates are scheduled for the diary. These include the fitness trial on Sunday, December 11th, at 4pm in Jack Brabham Park, followed by formal trials and training sessions every Sunday from January 15th onwards. Registration days for both junior and senior players are set for February 4th and 11th, either online through the Barnies website or in person at the Orange City Bowling Club. Finally, the A and B grade competitions will kick off on Saturday, March 25th, while the Women's, C, and 4th Div competitions will commence on Saturday, April 15th.
The junior competition will begin on Saturday, April 29th.
