Ballarat Fly Fishers Club

The Ballarat Fly Fishers Club (BFFC) is a prestigious sports club located in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. With a rich history spanning over a century, the BFFC is known as Australia's oldest interclub fly-fishing competition.

One notable event is the FFA Victoria Chapter – Lake Wendouree - Vern Barby Trophy, held on the 28th and 29th of October 2023. This exciting competition welcomes fly-fishing anglers from interstate chapters and provides an opportunity for participants to showcase their skills.

This includes the book “100 Years of the Ballarat Fly Fishers,” which showcases the club's rich history and is available in two different binding formats. Members can also purchase a specially commissioned etched double-sided ORVIS Fly Box commemorating the Centenary of the BFFC or a limited edition reproduction print by acclaimed artist TREVOR HAWKINS.

For those looking to improve their fly casting skills, the BFFC offers free fly casting tuition every Sunday morning at the McArthur St casting jetty. Led by John Close, a former Australian Fly Casting Champion, this opportunity allows both members and non-members to enhance their casting techniques and increase their catch rate.
